Full of character and originality, these ceramic figures are individually created and hand-fired by the artist, Rachel Quinn, who finds inspiration in the rural setting of her studio in Sligo, Ireland.
"Living in the west of Ireland, it is impossible to deny one’s relationship with natural time and history. From these rhythms new and old comes a stream of inspiration."
Rachel's ceramic figures, created using the ancient Japanese technique Raku, reflect this connection to the past with their historic Celtic themes of warriors, kings, queens, and other legendary figures. The difficult firing process involved in Raku, which means "happiness through chance", ensures that each piece takes on its own individual character.
