OGHAM is an ancient Celtic alphabet, dating from the 1st century and derived from an even older "leaf" alphabet. Ogham writing is read from the bottom to the top and was originally inscribed on stone monuments, which are still occasionally discovered in the Irish countryside where they have fallen and lay hidden for millenia.
Each Ogham Wish is hand-painted on hand-made paper by Ethel Kelly. The Gaelic word with its English translation are written at the bottom of the page. The origin of the Ogham alphabet is explained on the back of the frame.
These products can be personalized making them perfect for gift-giving. Choose a name or word of significant meaning to you or the recipient. For example add a baby's name in Ogham or a couple's names side by side, or choose another word instead of joy of special meaning to you. Just enter your preferred word or name and whether you would like it in ogham or just added underneath the existing word.
